2010 Budget Will Not Prevent Piñera Victory

Chile's 2010 budget proposal highlights a last-minute attempt by the government to help prop up the ruling coalition's candidate Eduardo Frei's popularity ahead of December's presidential poll. However, despite the impressive countercyclical fiscal track record, we see little stopping opposition candidate Sebastián Piñera from replacing President Michelle Bachelet next March.
