Moody's Upgrades Credit Rating
October 2009 | Risk SummaryRatings agency Moody's has upgraded Bolivia's credit rating from B3 to B2. The company attributed the move to an improvement in the country's political situation since September 2008, when political conflicts resulted in the deaths of at least 11 people. Moody's also noted that better-than-expected growth and the benefits of external debt forgiveness have resulted in a considerable improvement in the country's credit situation and healthier debt metrics. However, with presidential and congressional elections set for December 6, we see potential for renewed tensions, which would place downside pressure on Bolivia's short-term economic risk rating.
