Mujica's Centrism To Boost Election Hopes

A recent interview with presidential hopeful José Mujica has given the clearest indication to date that the ruling Frente Amplio (FA) nominee will not seek to step up government involvement in the economy, and look to avoid major reversals in policy. We expect this move to help the FA to occupy more of Uruguay's political centre, lending further support to our view that Mujica remains the likely winner of next month's election.
