Mixed Signals From Argentina's Government

As we have previously noted, there has been growing evidence of late to suggest that the Argentine government may be attempting to moderate economic policy. In July, the government signalled that it would start to address long-standing concerns over the credibility of data published at national statistical institute INDEC. More recently, Economy Minister, Amado Boudou, announced that Argentina was working towards establishing 'common ground' with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in order to re-establish dialogue - the most concrete signal yet that the government may normalise its debt policy.
