Debt Forgiveness On The Cards?

Jamaica's short-term political risk rating rises this month from 62.1 to 63.0 due to the reduction in the rate of consumer price inflation. Headline CPI fell for the ninth consecutive month, which has seen the social stability score in our short-term political risk ratings rise from 30.0 to 35.0. The social stability category continues to weigh on the overall rating, however, due to the high level of public unrest and the high unemployment rate. Should inflation rise over the coming months, as we believe is likely, we may be forced to reverse this upgrade.
