Financial services play a vital role in the Caribbean, with many islands developing global Offshore Financial Centres (OFCs) in recent years to reduce their dependence on tourism and agriculture. However, the outlook for the industry is deteriorating rapidly as the global economic and political climate turns increasingly hostile. In particular, tighter regulation by G20 nations could have seriously negative consequences for our Caribbean economic outlook.
