US-Cuba Thaw: Investment Implications

BMI View: A discernible thawing of Havana-Washington relations under the Obama presidency has put Cuba back on the radar of global investors, and we are confident that several sectors - most notably tourism, telecoms and energy - could start to look increasingly attractive going forward. Nevertheless, we caution that the prospects of comprehensive decentralisation and liberalisation of the island economy remain a long way off.
