Assassination Threat Highlights RisksApril 2009 | Political Risk Analysis
On April 16 the Bolivian government announced that an assassination plot against President Evo Morales had been halted by local security forces. While the actual events are unclear at present, they appear to highlight the high level of political risk in Bolivia associated with the radical socioeconomic changes being undertaken by President Morales. We expect Bolivia to remain at the foot of our regional short-term political risk ratings, with a score of 49.8, for some time to come.
