Peru Accuses Venezuela And Bolivia Of Meddling
March 2009 | Risk SummaryA special congressional five-member committee concluded a 10 month investigation into the alleged interference of Venezuela and Bolivia in Peruvian affairs. The findings presented to congress in early March concluded that the two countries have been meddling in domestic affairs via so-called Casas del Alba - 146 offices in Peru promoting the Alternativa Bolivariana para las Américas economic integration movement propagated by Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez. The committee recommended measures such as closing down all of the Casas in the country and expelling the Venezuelan diplomat Virly Torres from Peru.
