A new report by the UN Development Program and the National Autonomous University of Honduras highlighted the continuing problem of violence in Honduras. According to the report, there is a homicide every two hours and a growing fear that the country is headed in the direction of Mexico due to the failure of official efforts to combat gang violence. The poor score of just 3 out of 10 in the 'Rule of Law' category of our long-term political risk ratings, which drags down the overall score of 57.3, captures the extent of the country's violent crime problem.
