Martinelli Strengthens Lead Ahead Of Polls

After striking an alliance with Partido Panameñista candidate Juan Carlos Varela, Ricardo Martinelli of the opposition Cambio Democrático has strengthened his lead in Panama's presidential polls. We continue to see a change in government on May 3, and expect a rise in political tensions as the elections approaches. The country is likely to remain at the higher echelons of our political risk ratings, though, with a score of 70.6.
