Ministers Dismiss Incriminating Cheques As Forgeries

Bermuda's Premier Ewart Brown and Minister Derrick Burgess have publicly claimed that they have fallen victim to a smear campaign intended to damage the reputation of the Bermudan government. After the discovery of two cheques issued to the premier and minister for a total sum of BD$24,780 among documents relating to a US$78mn government contract awarded to LLC Bermuda Ltd for the construction of a new court house and police building in Hamilton, Brown and Burgess called for a media conference, including the entire Bermudan cabinet, on February 5.
