More Bad News For FDI
February 2009 | Ratings UpdateThe line up for Ecuador's general elections, due to take place on April 26, is beginning to shape up, with the country's interior minister, Fernando Bustamente, resigning from his position on January 29 in order to be eligible for election to a congressional seat. We believe that Bustamente's decision to run for congress is likely to be a shot in the arm for President Rafael Correa, given that he is regarded as a close ally of Correa's, and would probably give the president a greater voice in his own Acuerdo PaĆs coalition bloc, which has witnessed some political infighting over recent weeks.
