Mujica To Represent FA In 2009 Ballot

While José Mujica has gained the majority support of Uruguay's ruling Frente Amplio (FA) coalition, we believe that another FA presidency is not guaranteed. Indeed, mounting divisions within the coalition and resistance to the left-wing candidacy of Mujica - who has a more radical background than rival FA candidates - could see popular support shift towards the opposition ahead of the October 2009 presidential election.
