Power Shortages Weigh On Political Risk Rating

payments to the Dominican Republic's electricity operator have resulted in power shortages, leading to violent protests across the country. We have therefore revised our short-term political risk rating for the country and caution that further downgrades may be on the cards. Moreover, we see risks to our business environment score for the Dominican Republic, currently at 42.8, and cannot rule out the possibility that ongoing blackouts, sometimes lasting for up to 20 hours a day, could permanently affect the country's investment climate.
