November 2008 | Ratings UpdateAn interesting development took place in Mexico's political landscape, on November 17, when the leader of the opposition Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI) offered an electoral alliance to the other opposition party, the Partido de la Revolución Democrática (PRD). We have previously argued that internal fighting and the actions of its more radical elements had alienated the PRD from large parts of the electorate, to the extent that its chances at next year's mid-term congressional were becoming increasingly bleak.
