More Action To Tackle Drug Trade

Despite the seizure of more than 60 pounds of cocaine and 74,000 pounds of marijuana in 2008, we agree with the Guyanese authorities that more needs to be done to stem the rising tide of organised crime and insecurity resulting from region's drug trade. Programmes such as the workshop on the National Drug Information Network (which began on November 18), which aims to 'sensitise' and train authorities on how to obtain intelligence on drug trafficking, are a step in the right direction.
