DomRep and Qatar To Cooperate On Energy And Tourism

The Dominican Republic and Qatar signed several letters of intent in early November during a state visit by President Leonel Fernández and Foreign Minister Carlos Morales Troncoso. Meeting with the emir of Qatar and his foreign minister, both countries have agreed on closer bilateral ties on energy, tourism and ministerial cooperation. The emirate is set to become a supplier of natural gas to the Dominican Republic, including gas which will be bound for the US. Qatar is currently expected to supply some 35% of the world's natural gas from 2010. The development could significantly increase the Dominican Republic's role
