Dollarisation, DR-CAFTA Not At Risk

Mauricio Funes, presidential candidate for the opposition Farabundo Marti Front for National Liberation (FMLN), has reiterated that he would continue with the policies of dollarisation and DR-CAFTA should he be elected. The assertion could help to convince the country's business community that a major turnaround in policy would not be on the cards should the traditionally Marxist FMLN come to power next year. Nevertheless, we expect next year's contest to be a closely fought campaign, with ruling Alianza Republicana Nacionalista (ARENA) contender Rodrigo Avila still in with a good chance of victory at this stage.
