DR-CAFTA: Another Rejection Highlights Risks
September 2008 | Economic AnalysisBMI View: Costa Rica's bid to secure membership of the DR-CAFTA agreement with the US suffered yet another setback in September, meaning that a final resolution by the October 1 deadline looks all but dead. An additional extension to the window is likely to be granted, but we warn that a protracted delay would further dent the country's investment appeal at a time when the current account deficit continues to deteriorate rapidly.
