On August 14 St Lucian Prime Minister Stevenson King met the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) Patrick Manning, along with the prime ministers of Grenada and St Vincent and the Grenadines, to witness the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding by Manning, which paves the way for the T&T to join the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS). This is significant as the economy of T&T is almost 20 times larger than the economy of any other OECS member, and gives the sub-regional institution a stronger political voice on the global stage.
