Third Term: No Easy Ride For Fernández

President Leonel Fernández commences his third term in office with a bang. In light of rising food and fuel inflation, the Dominican Republic's president has introduced an emergency package, which seeks to reduce public spending by some 20% in H208 and increase borrowing from Venezuela, to help finance the 50,000 b/d of oil the Dominican Republic imports from the Bolivarian republic.
