July 2008 | Macroeconomic ForecastsWe argued in June that the macroeconomic distortions in Venezuela, in particular price controls, meant that the inflation climate was likely to deteriorate before it improved. With headline consumer price inflation (CPI) reaching 32.2% y-o-y in June, this view appears to be playing out and we believe it will continue to do so.
