Deficit Decreasing, But Growth Concerns Persist

Mexico's trade balance for May showed a slight improvement on the previous month, with the monthly trade deficit narrowing to US$61mn from April's US$1.1bn. The reason for this change was a larger decline in imports (down 7.47% m-o-m), than exports (down 3.92% m-o-m). As a result, the 3-month moving average for exports continues to grow faster than imports, a trend which has been in play since September 2007
