July 2008 | Macroeconomic ForecastsConsumer price inflation came in at a 9½-year high of 5.7% y-o-y in June, marking a rapid deterioration from just 3.9% last December. A weaker currency and the rise in global raw material prices have shouldered much of the blame, with food prices contributing 4.7 percentage points to the headline figure. Looking ahead, the situation is likely to get worse before improving.
