International Flights Suspended
June 2008 | Ratings UpdateSeveral social organisations, trade unions and prosecutors launched a new social movement in May in protest against widespread corruption in the political arena. The Movimiento Amplio por la Dignidad y la Justicia staged a 38 day hunger strike outside congress between April 7 and May 14, and has warned that further action will be taken if necessary. Honduras currently sits in a lowly 131st place (out of 179) in Transparency International's Corruption Perceptions Index, showing just how far the government has left to improve. We caution that further protests or demonstrations could hurt the social unrest category in our short-term
