Apparent Progress On Transparency

As Guyana's governing People's Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) pursues an agenda of privatisation, we are encouraged by a recent admission by Prime Minister Samuel Hinds that he believes that a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) is 'inevitable' in Guyana. Such an event would be a welcome development and could lead in time to upward revision of BMI 's proprietary political risk and business environment ratings for the country, which currently stand at 51.8 and 38.1 - both out of 100 - respectively.
