Closer Ties With China
May 2008 | Ratings UpdateFurther to the latest instalment of military aid received in March, Barbados is set to benefit from another round of grants from China. Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Minister, Christopher Sinckler - in Beijing with Prime Minister David Thompson - signed an agreement with China's Vice Minister of Commerce, Ma Xiuhong, under which China will provide funding and technical assistance in the region of some CNY20mn (US$2.9mn). There are also plans for teaching and cultural exchanges, further cementing the relationship between the two countries.
