Weak Growth A Negative Sign

Prime Minister Bruce Golding has indicated that the Jamaican government wants to strengthen ties with Cuba. Golding met with Cuba's President Raul Castro in May to discuss the appointment of a minister of tourism to help work on the programme to attract Cubans to Jamaica as tourists. Meanwhile, the Caribbean region's local government reform programme has been boosted with the contribution of CAD485,000 from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
