March 2008 | Political Risk AnalysisBMI View: In its latest Country Reports on Human Rights Practices, the US State Department gives Guyana a generally favourable assessment. However, a score only 51.8 in BMI 's proprietary long-term political risk ratings - amongst the lowest in the Caribbean region - reflects several institutional shortcomings in the human rights arena.
