National Police Force Beckons

President Hugo Chávez has enacted legislation to create a new national police force, which will help to bring together the 126 different police forces in Venezuela into one unit. We believe that this move would help to solve the problem of widespread corruption within some local forces and tackle the problem of rising crime rates, which Chávez has vowed to address. Venezuela scores just 50.0 out of 100 in the social stability category of our short-term political risk rating, which continues to act as a drag on the otherwise strong
