Trade Gap To Widen In 2008

BMI View: At US$6.65bn, Guatemala's nominal trade deficit has swollen to the second largest in the region, behind only Mexico (at US$12.3bn). The country has now been running a deteriorating trade account shortfall for the past 21 years and we expect little respite in 2008. We have pencilled in an end-year deficit of US$8.15bn.
