March 2008 | Ratings UpdatePresident Manuel Zelaya's approval rating has increased over the past six months to 38% in February (from 33% in September last year). The perceived improvement in Zelaya's support base could be linked to Honduras joining the Venezuelan-led PetroCaribe initiative - a deal which will allow access to subsidised oil imports at a time when high global energy prices are hurting local consumers. That said, with a disapproval rating of 31%, the president still has much work to do.
