November 2007 | Macroeconomic ForecastsBMI View: The latest data from the Guyana Marketing Corporation (GMC) reveal that total exports have showed substantial growth in percentage terms in recent years, from 1,902 tonnes in 1992 to 5,219 tonnes in 2006. This 174% increase is valued by the Guyana Bureau of Statistics at more than US$7mn, and is set to grow even more with burgeoning interest in agricultural production - particularly biofuels - and small- and medium-scale mining. Our year-end forecast sees the total value of exports reaching US$640mn.
