FTA Sparks Protests
November 2007 | Ratings UpdateThe passing of the free trade agreement (FTA) with the US on November 8 was met with a huge national protest by Confederación General de Trabajadores de Perú (CGTP), the country's largest trade union group. Protesters demonstrated their opposition to the deal and demanded an increase in salaries and pensions and a reduction in the cost of living.
