November 2007 | Ratings UpdateAs expected, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner won the presidential election on October 28, and will succeed her husband, Néstor Kirchner, on December 10. The elections also heralded positive results for Fernández's Frente Para La Victoria party in the Senate and Chamber of Deputies, providing a very strong mandate for the coming term in office. That said, the Fernández administration could become increasingly bound by imbalances in the domestic economy, which have created strong inflationary pressures, and ongoing problems in the energy sector. As such, while the result was positive for short-term stability, things may not be as plain sailing going
