Steady Improvement

November 2007 | Risk Summary

Having recently updated our ratings to take into account our forecasts to 2009, Mexico's long-term economic rating has increased to 72.1 from 69.0. This reflects both a modest improvement in Mexico's GDP volatility and a major improvement in GDP growth. As our forecast period moved forward to 2009, we see Mexico entering a period of sustained GDP growth gradually approaching 4.0%, a great improvement since the economic contraction of 0.16% experienced in 2001.
