Opposition Chief Whip Ramesh Lawrence Maharaj has stated that Trinidad & Tobago's Integrity Commission is investigating a top government minister, who allegedly has a TTD49mn (US$8mn) bank account in the US. He has also claimed that several members of government boards had indicated that they were going to resign from these posts because they were not prepared to be investigated. While we await further developments, we acknowledge that corruption remains an urgent problem for the recently re-elected administration of Prime Minister Patrick Manning.
