Legislatures for the opposition PLC are pushing for a legislative decree that would provide amnesty for all public officials in the last three governments convicted of corruption. By framing it as a legislative act, and not a law, President Daniel Ortega would not be able to veto it. The endgame for the PLC is to allow former president Arnoldo Alemán full amnesty.
