Macroeconomic Forecast Panama
February 2008 | Macroeconomic ForecastsBMI View: According to latest data published by the Contraloría General de la República, economic activity grew by a scorching 10.2% y-o-y in November 2007. As such, the economy expanded by 9.2% y-o-y in the first eleven months of last year, on the back of impressive growth in construction and banking - an outturn which lends weight to our 9.8% 2007 real GDP growth forecast. Looking ahead, we project that real GDP growth will moderate in 2008, as a US economic deceleration takes its toll, but will still come in at a healthy 7.2%.
