The Chilean short-term political risk rating falls this month from 85.8 to 82.1 due to a fall in the social stability category linked to the high level of inflation. The country's short and long-term ratings are still the highest in the region, though, supported mainly by its advanced legal framework and continuity of policy. While political risk is low, President Michelle Bachelet's popularity remains subdued, with high levels of poverty and a very unequal income distribution.
