Electoral Commission judge, Aura Celeste Fernández, will remain in court despite her husband, Guillermo Moreno, announcing his intentions to run for the presidency. After Moreno announced that he will be the candidate for the Movimiento Independencia, Unidad y Cambio, it was thought that Fernández may be forced into resignation due to her affiliations. However, in a compromise deal, she has announced that she will instead abstain from participating in deliberations regarding political parties any other issues that could affect her position as an impartial referee.
