Another Downgrade

The political deadlock between ruling MAS party and the opposition leaders, and the associated unrest, has caused us to further downgrade Bolivia's political risk rating. The short-term rating has fallen from 55.0 to 51.9, with the policy making, social stability and security threats categories all suffering a downward revision. President Evo Morales will meet the country's nine governors to discuss a possible solution to the conflict over the new constitution and regional autonomy statutes, although we do not expect a long-term solution to be forthcoming.
