December 2007 | Macroeconomic ForecastsBMI View: The pressing economic concern in Guyana - as with the majority of Latin America - is the persistence of latent inflationary pressures. Consumer price inflation hit 13.8% y-o-y in July (the fastest rate in almost a decade and the fourth successive month of double-digit price growth) with food price in particular (at 18.2% y-o-y) having a detrimental effect.
