El Salvadorean President Tony Saca in November criticised the US for earmarking too few funds (US$50mn, which in his words is 'very little cash') to a Washington-led effort to crack down on transnational crime in Mexico and Central America. The comments came following a meeting with US President George W Bush, at which the two discussed bilateral trade and El Salvador's continuing troop presence in Iraq.
