González Is Trouble
November 2007 | Ratings UpdateAs we had warned, ever since Pedro Miguel González (who is wanted in the US on charges for murdering American soldiers in 1992) was elected as the president of the national assembly, relations with the US have deteriorated. Furthermore, the passage of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two countries may depend on whether or not he remains in his post. Indeed, key negotiators have stated that the process may now be delayed. That said, we expect the free trade to be signed as it would be beneficial for both countries.
