October 2007 | Ratings UpdatePresident Rafael Correa's overwhelming victory in the vote for the Constituent Assembly will allow him to sideline the traditional parties from policy making. As such, we believe that it is highly likely that the new Constitution will be passed. Having said that, there are both upside and downside risks to Ecuador's short-and long-term political risk ratings. On the one hand, the Correa's majority in the Assembly could improve the score of the 'policy making' category, while a potential rise in tensions could also worsen the country's social stability score.
