BMI View: Barbados' overall public sector accounts moved into balance last year due to a large improvement in the public enterprise position and a surplus in the National Insurance Scheme (NIS). However, we are expecting this to slip back into a deficit of 3.8% of GDP in 2007 due to the large number of government projects undertaken, including the building of a sugar factory and an expansion to the country's highway system.
