Next year's presidential race is set to become a three-way contest, as Lino Oviedo and Fernando Lugo split the opposition into two camps, which will attempt to end ruling party Partido Colorado (PC)'s sixty-year unbroken rule in the April ballot. The PC candidate will be nominated in December following primary elections, but latest opinion polls currently favour the two opposition candidates, with Oviedo marginally ahead of Lugo.
