The PC candidate will be nominated in December following primary elections, but latest opinion polls currently favour the two opposition candidates, with Oviedo marginally ahead of Lugo. The election is likely to be closely fought, though the opposition remains vulnerable to further splintering, and the PC candidate will likely gain ground once chosen.
