Political noise in Jamaica should quieten down following the Jamaica Labour Party's election victory on September 3. Despite the change in government, we do not foresee a major shift in policy, a factor which has helped our short-term political risk rating increase from 62.5 to 65.0. Going forward, we believe that the government needs to tackle the problems of political violence that marred the build-up to the election, in order to enjoy longer-term gains in our ratings.
